Baby, Middle and Preschool Rooms

The nursery is laid out into 3 individual rooms to accommodate for the different child age groups. Our rooms are run by highly trained staff, all with specific experience within each age group.

All of our rooms are evaluated on a regular basis using the ITERS or ECERS scales and we frequently invite the local authority to inspect our setting against these standards. Click a room below for more information.

Baby room (0-2 years old)

Our baby room is where we look after babies and toddlers from age 0 up to around 2 years.

As this age range require the most intense attention we have a staff ratio of three children to one member of staff so we can always ensure they are safe and in sight. The Baby Room focuses on creating an environment that is "home-from-home" so to provide a gentle transition from home to nursery life.

The babies occupy a spacious and well equipped room, specifically designed for the younger age group. Scrupulous hygiene standards are maintained at all times as is appropriate for this vulnerable age group. The children participate in a range of activities, focussing on sensory and exploratory play using a variety of mediums, all at age appropriate levels.

Toddler room (2-3 years)

Our middle room caters for toddlers aged from 2-3 years old.  We have a staff ratio of 4 children to one member of staff so it allows the children to interact with others and still have someone watching over them to keep them out of harm's way.

The room layout encourages children to begin to explore for themselves and build the first steps of independence.  With their own unique personality starting to come through, children are ready to start developing, social, self-help and life skills.

Pre-school room (3-5 years)

This is the room where we prepare the children for their next big step into school life. We provide them with everything they need to ensure they are fully equipped for what’s to come. Pre-school is for children over 3 years old. As their days are packed full of fun and educational activities we provide a staff ratio of eight children to one member of staff to watch over them and guide them in the right direction in whatever they are doing.

We plan activities for groups and individuals to reflect the Early Years Foundation Stage for the development of pre-school children. There are opportunities to learn at every turn, including early reading and maths skills, imaginative play, mark making and ICT on computers, which are reinforced through what we call ‘purposeful play’.
